H.E. Christine Mvurya is the National Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Champion. Her role as MHM champion is to provide the much needed High Level Advocacy on issues of Menstrual Hygiene Management. Christine is also a senior trainer on MHM. Fanikisha Foundation has been at the forefront of championing issues of MHM in Kwale County.
The Foundation has partnered with the county government of Kwale to train county staff on HM and also organised community sessions to sensitize on MHM. Since menstruation is a taboo topic in the communities in Kwale County, the Foundation aims at promoting the open discussions on menstruation and break the myths, taboos and beliefs associated with menstruation. The Foundation uses the nationally adopted three-thronged approach to menstruation:
